Home Range Clean Power

Home Range Clean Power is a proposed large energy project located primarily in Finney and Kearny counties in Southwest Kansas. Designed to meet growing electricity demand, Home Range combines domestic energy sources from wind, solar, and natural gas with battery energy storage to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable power—while creating long-term economic benefits for local communities and landowners.

Home Range started in 2021 as a wind energy development. Since that time, the demand for electricity in the state and country has skyrocketed. Meeting this challenge requires using all available energy generation solutions, including homegrown renewable energy like wind and solar power, flexible generation like natural gas, and battery storage to supply the electrical grid when power is needed most. While the power is not contracted yet, Home Range is currently in discussions with a large energy customer who is considering the area for a future data center.

Triple Oak Power is committed to responsible development and is actively working with county officials, landowners, and community stakeholders on permitting and project design.

Wind

Wind power harnesses Southwest Kansas’s world-class wind resource to generate clean, affordable electricity with a small land footprint. Turbines are carefully sited so farms and ranches continue operating normally, providing landowners with incremental, stable income and strengthening local energy independence. Wind energy has powered millions of American homes safely for decades and is one of the lowest-cost sources of new electricity.

Solar
Solar energy converts abundant Kansas sunlight into low-cost, clean electricity while preserving open landscapes. The project will advance environmental stewardship through native or site-appropriate vegetation, invasive species control, and topsoil preservation. Solar uses little to no water during operations and the project will be removed at the end of its useful life, allowing the land to be returned to agriculture or native wildlife habitat.
BESS
Battery Energy Storage
Battery Energy Storage Systems store excess electricity from low-cost wind and solar when it is plentiful and deliver it back to the grid when demand is highest. Modern battery systems are engineered to rigorous federal safety standards, continuously monitored, and coordinated with local emergency responders.
Natural Gas Peaker
A natural gas peaker plant is designed to be readily available to operate only when needed. By pairing limited-run gas generation with wind, solar, and batteries, the system enables more clean energy while maintaining the highest degree of reliability.
